גיליתי לאחרונה שיש תגית ייעודית amenity=mikveh למקווה אבל כמעט לא משתמשים בה.
חיפוש בישראל של „מקווה” או ביטויים דומים בשם מצא 100 מקומות (חלקם לא קשורים כמו מקווה ישראל) והם בדרך כלל מתוייגים amenity=place_of_worship, amenity=public_bath או רק building=yes.
אני מציע להריץ תיקון חצי אוטומטי על כולם ולתייג אותם נכון. מה דעתכם?

לגבי הדיון פה, איפה שאין תגיות יותר טובות כמו bulding=yes אני מציע להוסיף.
לגבי הקיימים, אני פתוח מתחבר, place_of_worship נשמע לי יותר נכון, שבו יש תגית נוספת שאומרת איזה סוג הוא - במקרה הזה מקווה.
אפשר לראות את סוגי ה״תת תגיות״ פה:
נשמע לי יותר סביר להוסיף לשם מאשר תגית amenity חדשה, אבל זה אולי דיון לתגית עצמה ולא לפה, לא יודע…

זכור לי שהייתה הצעה לזה שנראתה לי טובה, אני חושב שזה זה:

זה מקום דתי, אבל לא קשור לתפילה ולכן יצרו תגית מקווה.
יש תגית מקווה, זה יותר טוב מ-ritual שממילא לא בשימוש.
זהעדיין לא בשימוש, כי זו הצעה. amenity=mikveh גם לא ממש בשימוש, וזה תג יותר מדי ספציפי שמשרת רק את היהדות.
ההצעה של ritual_bath משרתת מספר דתות שונות, ובפרט את היהדות.
התרגום הישיר של place of worship הוא לא בהכרח מקום תפילה…

אבל amenity=mikveh במצב של in use אז למה לא להשתמש בו?
אחרי עריכה גורפת הוא יהפוך להיות בשימוש נרחב.
I added the page amenity=mikveh because the term ritual_bath seems to imply it is for use only by people. Whereas it is common for mikvahs that there are separate locations for people and vessels.
This is true but we wouldn’t map any place that religious rites are carried out as place of worship. For example a graveyard. And in the wiki page the focus is clearly on locations of prayer.

Sounds correct to me given my familiarity with the subject.
I don’t see how a graveyard is a relevant comparison, sorry.

I agree that a more general tag should be used.
This is a very short definition and I dont think it is expansive which you can see when you read further:
Also of note amenity=grave_yard exists which is separate from the more general burial ground landuse=cemetery which is not tagged under place_of_worship=*. Even though services are preformed on them ie Funerals.
As far as how the wiki is understood, the iD editor assumes all amenity=place_of_worship + religion=jewish are synagogues. (Though this could be changed on their end)
These things in combination seem to imply that amenity=place_of_worship is more equivalent to place of prayer than a place of religious use and so it would be completely reasonable to add a separate tag not in place_of_worship=* such as amenity=mikveh or amenity=ritual_bath.
If it makes more sense to use amenity=ritual_bath as it will be more generalizable I’m all for that. I’d just want to add more subtags so more information can be conveyed. Most notable being for indicating whether people or vessels use it.
A related question about tagging Yeshivot. Should they also have the amenity=place_of_worship along with the already used amenity=college and religion=jewish since the people there do “religious service”.
I strongly feel that amenity=place_of_worship is incorrect, I think that applies specifically to churches, synagogues, mosques, etc. and not just any place that is used for religious purposes.
I think the proposal for amenity=ritual_bath was very well thought out at the time, and it’s a shame it never got any attention. I will note that it was proposed by a user named Shlomo, I think it’s safe to say he had mostly mikvehs in mind, but was smart enough to generalize in accordance with OSM tagging conventions.
I oppose amenity=mikveh for two reasons. The ‘true’ reason is that it doesn’t match tagging conventions:
amenity=church, instead we have amenity=place_of_worship+religion=christianamenity=synagogue, instead we have amenity=place_of_worship+religion=jewishamenity=pizzeria, instead we have amenity=restaurant+cuisine=pizza (or amenity=fast_food+cuisine=pizza, let’s not get into that though)OSM main tags should strive to be generic and allow other tags to specify further. This has many benefits, including that it allows renderers and tools to more easily display these things without duplicating work. amenity=ritual_bath+religion=jewish follows this philosophy perfectly. And I do not think there’s a good fit for adding specificity to a different existing main tag, like amenity=place_of_worship for the reasons I said above.
The second reason is a bit sillier, it’s that mikveh can also be spelled mikvah, miqveh, etc. and I prefer not to use transliterated Hebrew words in tags if it can be avoided.
This is not a vote, I just want to see what everyone’s opinion is right now, to see where this discussion is going.
