Както стана дума под тази бележка виждам един проблем с масовото означаване на пешеходни алеи из големите паркове в София като bicycle=yes и bicycle=designated. За справка може да разгледате CyclOSM слоя (синьо за designated) и velo-sofia.com (синьо за designated, зелено за yes). Това се е случило преди 11 години. Според моето разбиране на ЗДвП велосипедът е ППС и като такова е забранено движението му в пешеходни зони, освен при изрично означение, че е разрешено. Има обаче много алеи из двете части на Южен Парк, както и прилежащ към парка тротоар на бул. България и алеи около Моста на Влюбените, за които няма знаци или маркировка.
Подобна е ситуацията в парк Гео Милев, където на практика целият парк е означен с bicycle=yes, а в Западен парк подозирам (въпреки, че не съм се разходил лично), че се е получило нещо подобно, тъй като голяма част от парка е маркирана с bicycle=designated.
Струва ми се достатъчно ясно, че където няма никакви означения, трябва да се премахне bicycle=yes/designated тага, но въпросите ми са:
Може ли някой да потвърди за Гео Милев и Западен парк дали все пак в някои части е изрично позволено?
Тъй като в софийската действителност преминаването с колело през големите паркове често е безалтернативно/много по-безопасно от прилежащите пътища, има ли някакво друго подходящо bicycle означение за алеи, по които технически не е позволено колоезденето, но на практика неформално велосипедният трафик там е голям, т.е. нещо като bicycle=informal?
Мисля, че особено при нашумялите слухове, че при скорошни полицейски акции около НДК се глобавят велосипедисти заради подобно нарушение, темата е доста актуална.
I understand that the status of cyclists in the traffic law was only updated last year, so that OSM is not up to date with that is not surprising. It should be updated though. The matter is more complicated because sometimes traffic signs are missing (there may be a
means “Closed to all trafffic EXCEPT cars”, not “Closed to all traffic INCLUDING cars” (there are such signs with a bicycle on Graf Ignatief, so it is correctly tagged as highway=pedestrian + bicycle=designated and cyclists are only allowed to cycle between the tram rails and not on the sidewalks).
Access tags such as bicycle=* are strictly about the legal status, so can’t be used to map informal use of ways. I don’t think we should map it at all.
I think that it’s been illegal by default for much longer than a year to ride in parks, more specifically since 2015.
In the case of South park, I was fairly certain that there aren’t any bicycle lanes anywhere and @Dimitar155 confirmed it in the discussion under the note mentioned above, so I guess it’s pretty much settled that the bicycle tag has to go. There are also no exemptions from “closed to all traffic“ signs anywhere around the park.

Забраната за велосипеди в пешеходните зони е от как се помня. В последните години някои общини поставят допълнителни знаци за тази забрана, но тя винаги си е била в сила.

6. да управлява велосипед по площите, предназначени за движение само на пешеходци. Тази забрана не се отнася за децата велосипедисти.
I think it’s pretty clear that Моста на Влюбените also has to have its bicycle=designated tag removed, but still, could someone confirm that it is considered a pedestrian area and that there are no signs/markings explicitly saying that bicycles are allowed on it?
For Моста на Влюбените there’s this map by the NGO Велоеволюция indicating that the bridge used to have a bicycle lane but it was removed at some point.
I can confirm that: there were painted lanes but they are hardly visible any more. And not only on Моста на Влюбените: there were lanes on other paths as well and even on these steps Way: 438982625 | OpenStreetMap
Oh wow, I don’t remember those at all. I guess they used to be on the east side of the bridge, where they’ve been blocked for years by exhibition posters… I guess it’s safe to remove the bicycle tag here as well then
It used to be in the middle, between the 2 rows of different-coloured pavement tiles that are still there. However, I’m wondering what the legal status is of cycle lanes that are so badly maintained they are no longer visible…
Hello all, I surveyed South Park (including the dog park) and Borisova Garden today. There is neither horizontal, nor vertical markings denoting bicycle access.
In my opinion all alleys in these parks need to at least have their bicycle access tags removed.
The alley on the Lovers’ Bridge is barely discernable on the part after the photo exhibition towards NDK.
The alley at the end of the Lovers’ Bridge that connects it to the Pencho Slaveykov bike alley is visible.
Additionally in my opinion all gratuitous use of bicycle=yes on the road network must be removed (i.e. anything that cannot be objectively verified in the field).
Thanks for the survey. I believe there really should be no bicycle tag in almost all of Borisova gradina.
However, there is one section of Yavorov alley (Way: 30122206 | OpenStreetMap and Way: 1323862432 | OpenStreetMap) which probably still has signs saying “Споделяй с внимание”/“Share safely” with symbols of a bicycle and pedestrians. Not sure if these count as a legal designation of a shared path, but here is one of them in March 2026.
I think the most northwestern sign on this alley seems to have been present in 2023 and missing in March 2026, but there should still be about 5 signs further to the southeast along the alley.
As to Way: 30128538 | OpenStreetMap , it has been marked as bicycle=designated ever since it was first mapped 17 years ago: Way: 30128538 | OpenStreetMap , but I’ve never seen indication of it being legally designated too, even though there’s a cycle path at one of its ends at Way: 1181742018 | OpenStreetMap .
This rickety sign is not something I’d bet on saving me from the cops as it is not part of the law they work with, and as far as I understand, it is not the municipality that is dishing out fines, it’s the actual ministry of interior.
If it was the municipality (it’s not), we could argue that the entirety of Borisova is shared as per this map I photographed in the survey today: photo
At the end of the day, if it is not a legally marked bicycle lane (as per Traffic Law) it is not a bicycle lane…
I just finished Changeset: 186483214 | OpenStreetMap for Borisova gradina and Loven park and some pedestrian crossings around them. I could fix that ambiguously “designated” section separately with a link to photos of the signs later.
На места си оставил foot=designated (който е имплицитен от highway=footway), highway=cycleway и segregated=no които в случая са излишни. Махнал съм ги.
