The lists for each country on the wiki still say “as of March 6, 2023”. Has it been updated yet?

Yeah, I stupidly didn’t change the title that said March 6th from when I first built the script.
The list is up-to-date as from this night when the planet file was generated.

I’ve cleared the Canada notes and some of the US.

Organic Maps seems to still be creating duplicate notes. I just closed one created 3 days ago with map data from September meaning it was created using the most recent version of the app.

In the previous topic there’s only StreetComplete, OnOsm and OsmAnd with open GitHub issues, as OrganicMaps also has a GitHub repo, do you know if they are already aware of that issue? I didn’t find anythin at first glance?

I did fix the items for The Netherlands and … Aruba and Curaçao.

Most notes completely closed, for some the duplicates closed stating the note they are duplicating.

Interesting that you show 735 open, as when I look at the Notes list, it currently shows 1052?

Thought that may have been because I can still see hidden Notes due to Mod privileges, but other people also see the same number. There were ~300 spam Notes hidden earlier this year so they may still be showing as active?

Hey Fizzie,

I believe you’re talking about the “please update school details…” notes? They are still shown as “open” on Pascal’s Resultmaps, but without a user. My best guess is, that the notes are orphaned because their first and only comment (that creates the note at same time) was removed and/or the user was deleted.

I can safely say, that the note IDs I checked are NOT present in the planet.osn file and thus I can’t import them in the first place - and so they’ll never be shown as existing.

That was most of them, yeah.

I might try reactivating some of them, then resolving & closing to see if that effects the number, then hide them again.

Closed some User:Kmpoppe/Potential Note Duplicates/Iran - OpenStreetMap Wiki notes

That onosm.org flood is of dubious utility, but if there are many shop notes, all supposedly at the same exact location then it can be definitely safely closed.

It looks like someone dumps external data after geocoding them (Iran place node has 700+ notes - maybe 800+ as new keep appearing, and yes, I closed them)

Also, can we please talk about Organic Maps / MapsMe creating Notes even though they upload a changeset at the same time making the very change that’s put in the text of the Note?

I wonder how many Notes are in the database that haven’t had any use to begin with :-/

(not editing directly as it is regenerated with bot so likely would be lost)

The political status of Hungary is irrelevant to the discussion. Please keep to the topic of the discussion.

OSM should to the best of its ability, strive to be politically neutral. No one will want to contribute to the map if half the time people start going off on the politics of their country. I myself could rail about the politics of Brazil or United States - having connections to both countries - but I know that no one is interested in that and it wouldn’t further a discussion about notes in any substantial way.

Would it be possible to publish text dump of note texts? (for example I would review StreetComplete notes)
