Changeset / history data looks good, thank you. I dirtied up a few of the tiles around the area to try and get them re-rendered sooner, and after a while will re-check things.

I learned quite a bit from all the surrounding discussion, and I appreciate that!

It seems that Features I Edited Are Gone may be a similar problem.

Yes, it looks like my edits were deleted by SherbetS, as well. Here’s an example:

More deleted woods:

@SherbetS Maybe it would be a good idea to systematically review features you deleted?
Is there a way to do it without crushing effort? Maybe there is a tool to automatically compare deleted areas with current data to spot cases where objects are gone without replacement?

And in future: probably deleting mapped landuse as “preconflation” without checking is it in the imported data is likely not the best idea.

What follows are all OSM areas (closed ways or multipolygon relations) tagged as natural=water, water=river that were deleted by the import. They were either overlaid by natural=wetland, replaced by nothing, or a combination of the two. This is just one type of feature, from one changeset in one county of the import.

I’ve tried to contact @SherbetS directly in regards to restoring my edits and have gotten no response. What should I do?

You can try sending PM to SherbetS | OpenStreetMap user or comment on their changeset comment.

If you commented on their changeset comments and they ignore it you can contact DWG ( Data Working Group - OpenStreetMap Wiki ) and ask for help.

Though it looks like this use has not edited recently - maybe they are busy with something or travelling?

They’re a student at Uni so I expect this is a particularly busy time for them.

Given that they are basically inactive, it seems unlikely they will repair it.

Also, as far as I know import was not so bad that reverting their edits altogether would be a good idea.

Sadly, it seems that it may be necessary to repair it semi-manually.

11 months down the road, any attempt at “semiautomatic revert” is likely to leave a mess, so likely you’re correct here.

The cases I looked at (some of which were detailed earlier in this thread), where bad in my opinion.

Regardless, as @SomeoneElse suggested, it is too late now to do any “semiautomatic revert”

This is quite an old topic, and the original person who made the bad bulk edit did back it out, at least around the area in question where I’d made edits. So this is long since closed with a favorable outcome…

damage mentioned in How to get an "importer"'s attention - #27 by tekim seems remaining unfixed
