Additional info for joining the call

Testing microphone/audio

You might want to go through the microphone/audio test of
BigBlueButton (which occurs before one joins a video room) in
advance.

If you don’t hear yourself or the test sound during the audio test,
please select “no” and choose a different hardware option from the
drop-down list.

Low bandwidth

You can disable receiving the video and desktop sharing streams.
After you have joined the room, click on the three dots on the top right
of the black video-window.

if you don’t have one already. An account is not required to join this meeting.

If you create one, it will provide you with your own home video room for

OSM-related meetings and you can also be added to the access lists of

other rooms, so that you can start them.

Hello everyone,

During yesterday’s meeting the @forums-governance team met to talk about some open discussions and next steps for these forums.

Decisions

Migration next steps

@Firefishy and @cquest will work together to snapshot the current site and test a full migration, the desire is to be ready to do the final migration some time in May (exact date TBD based on early May test results)

Help OSM transition plan

@Firefishy will generate a report on how active the Help OSM old questions are to inform a decision on whether to generate an static site or evaluate if content migration is doable.

The Question and Answer plugin will be installed and tested.

Why? The current workload to test the old forums migration is taking already most technical time, any technical time on Help OS transition will have to wait. There is currently no script to migrate content from the Help OSM database.

Moderation process

@Nop in collaboration with @cquest and @nukeador will come with a proposal on a moderation guidelines, to help new moderators know how to deal with issues and enforce guidelines.

@Nop will also come with written guidelines to capture the current ones that are being applied to the German forum over the old site.

Why? It important that moderators have clear guidelines to follow when dealing with conflict and also a guide on how to operate using the discourse features.

I think that that makes sense - it would also give time to address some of the other “help” issues (e.g. voting) later.
