I saw that in some Subdistrict relations in กำแพงเพชร province are said to be sourced from long do, I also use long do to make admin level 8 relations too in my hometown, but it can be conflicting with government documents
For example in lampang city longdo admin boundary map show that sop tui, suan dok and hua wieang are go south till superhighway highway no.1. meanwhile in royal gazette it show that it south boundaries only offset from พหลโยธิน road to the south for 200 meters and run parallel to the northeast till it met a steam.
And another one are Sak Ngam Subdistrict of kamphagphet province show that the londgo boundary and royal gazette regarding establishment of Sak Ngam Subdistrict Municipalty have two complety driffent boundary.
Should longdo nao be use when government documents is not possible to find as source for Subdistrict boundaries?
Are royal gazette should be superior sources to other online sources?
And are longdo map copyrighted and should be removed?

Longdo shouldn’t be the source that can be copied into OSM for sure. If any is obviously copied from it, that should be removed.
Regarding Royal Gazette, it is reasonably trustworthy, although it should be noted that occasionally their map is also imprecise. Although ground truth may differ, it should be a useful source for rough tracing.
For admin_level=8 (subdistrict), the useful law from Royal Gazette is the กฎกระทรวงให้ใช้บังคับผังเมืองรวมจังหวัด… It will contain entire province map with district and subdistrict rough boundaries.
Regarding subdistrict boundary around Lampang city, I roughly check with some place address that can be verified.
- Big C Lampang is in Sop Tui Subdistrict.
- Central Lampang is in Suan Dok Subdistrict.
- Boromrajonani College of Nursing Nakorn Lampang is in Hua Wiang Subdistrict.
This indicates that the subdistrict boundary in the Royal Gazette might be wrong or changed later.
Whilw im unable to find Subdistrict boundaries on both Provincial and city zoning documents. I’m able to find Subdistrict boundaries in establishment documents for lampang town municipality which out line, Wiang Nue, Sop Tui, Suan Dok and Hua Wieang.
While for clearer Subdistrict boundaries exist in establishment of lampang city Muncipality
Thought these documents are very olds and may be outdated, i’m unable to find newer documents regarding changing of Subdistrict boundaries online

Thank you for your thorough research. This is a classic example of a contradiction between the situation on the ground and the line on the official paper map. I’ve encountered numerous instances of this type of problem in various locations in Thailand. Mapping what is on the ground is preferable, according to the “ground truth” OSM principle. The map’s administrative boundaries are used for addressing purposes.
Since the three places I listed have their official addresses shown on their websites, you may check for other places or businesses in that conflicting area to see which subdistrict they belong to. Since Lampang City Municipality issued that address (with ทะเบียนบ้าน/ทะเบียนอาคาร), it can be trusted. Therefore, I’ll map the OSM related to this rather than the Royal Gazette.
