XML Map as gpx please

Hi

I am looking at this route on this map here:

https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/183757#map=9/51.4995/-1.3792

Is it possible to download this as a gpx map please?

Thanks

Rich

This earlier thread may help you: https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=23912

However note that GPX files are XML files, however they are not really maps.

With JOSM proceed as follows:

  1. Select download object from the file menu
  2. Enter the relation number 183757 in the popup box and select the proper object type (“relation”)
  3. Click the download object button at the bottom
  4. Select export to GPX from the file menu

It worked for me…

Using Overpass Turbo, run this http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/k4R and export to gpx
However this producers too many individual gpx segments, so I opened in GPSPrune to sew all track segments together and on saving it is one gpx file for whole route. Click the world icon to show on map.

Edit: This method is flawed. The segments are not sorted from start to finish and gpx track jumps all over the place from end of one segment to another. Requires sorting before stitching segments together I suppose. I haven’t pursued this any further.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I couldn’t see a file menu anywhere. Could you show me how I get there please?

Thanks

Rich

Thanks for the idea though. I did give it a run through and it produces a crazy line! I’ll have a go with it at some other point.

Are you using JOSM?

If not, then get it here for your OS:

https://josm.openstreetmap.de/

The file menu is in the top menubar of the program (like it is for all other computerprograms).

If you were using JOSM, then you should maybe read its manual.
