Which value for "parking_space" tag in case of a place reserved to funeral vehicles?

Hello,

I want to add a parking space reserved to funeral vehicles (hearses). This parking space is located next to a church.

The problem is that I can’t find a parking_space value that fits my case in the wiki or taginfo.

Is there a value for this case ? Should I use a more general value ? Can I create and/or sumbit a new value if it doesn’t exist ?

Thanks for your help ! :slight_smile:

AFAIK there is no established tag for this, I would tag it as private parking and eventually add a subtag that explains its for hearses. And a note.

Thanks for your answer.

I’m thinking of doing as you suggest.

Is it possible to suggest a new value for the tag “parking_space” which would be more accurate ?

There are 13 uses of hearse=yes so it may be enough to do it on this de facto access tag.

looking at it, there are only 2-3 different “uses”, one is around here:

https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/470681461

the other two are in Zeeland:
around here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/562552440
and here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/691677352 but this doesn’t make a lot of sense because it duplicates the general access (it is only used to emphasize that not even hearses may drive there after sunset)

This is not sufficient for “de facto”, but it is “In Use”

Finally, I tagged it like this :

amenity=parking_space
access=no
hearse=yes

Yes, that was me after going to a funeral. It’s perhaps not strictly accurate (some vehicles following the hearse are also allowed, but definitely not the whole cortege). I think every crematorium has an arrangement like this in the UK, so probably should be used more widely. For instance this one probably has the restriction. Unfortunately, funerals never lend themselves to much ad hoc mapping.

If I can find a photo or two of the restrictions I’ll create a wiki page (it so happens I expect to be at the second location in the near future).
