What should I do here?

Hello!

So I wanted to make a building, but I see that it crosses the residential area and I think it’s a problem.

Should I make the residential area slightly bigger, or just connect the building to it (residential area)?

If you’re wondering where this is happening, here is the link:
OpenStreetMap (use imagery to see the building)

Hopefully someone replies!

Hi Alen! The residential area seems rather crudely drawn. Are you a local or knowledgeable about the area that you can make it more precise? I can’t tell if the building in question is a home but maybe you can. At any rate, I would expand/constrict the residential area then draw the building, that way it is either completely within or without the residential area. Hope that helps! Happy mapping!

Generally it is not a problem when a building is crossing the outline of any landuse (residential, commercial, industrial etc.), but of course it is better when residential buildings are completely included in the residential area.

In your case you can simply expand the residential area to make the buildings fit inside. On the arial image you can even see at some places where the residential properties end and the forest begins (difference in colour). This may help you to draw the outline of the residential area, even without checking this on the ground. The only thing you should make sure that all of these buildings are residential (from the arial image I would definitely say they are).

Please don’t connect buildings to landuses either way.

No, I’m not a local about the area, so I can’t really make it precise. But i’ll do what you told me! (Sorry for late response I had faulty inter net.)

Thanks, Mike! This should help me and others too.
