Hi, I am trying to download a UK map for my Garmin Edge 810. Downloaded to my computer (using Windows 10), then can’t open the file - says corrupt. Tried moving file to SD card to see if it can be seen in the Garmin 810, but no luck with that either. Te file shows on the computer when I look at the SD card contents, but cannot open it or do anything with it.
Could you provide a few more details, for example what you’re trying to download and from where? What’s the filename (and extension) that Windows 10 says is “corrupt”?
Thank you for both replies. It is a gmapsupp file that I was trying to load so I will try the other website and let you know how I get on, and perhaps revisit the original if they have sorted out their problem. Many thanks, Ash
A “gmapsupp” file will likely have the file extension “.img”. Windows won’t be able to open it because it thinks that “.img” files are disk images. You can, however, use Windows to copy the file where it is supposed to go (to the SD card - but you’ll need to copy it to the correct place on there). Here’s what I see at the command prompt when a Garmin eTrex 30x is plugged in to a Windows 7 PC. Drive “g” is the SD card, and “gmapsupp.img” is a file that I copied there:
dir g:\garmin
Volume in drive G has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 3838-3164
