Unable to edit my umap anymore - answered

Unfortunately, I created a uni project on umap without an account. For approximately one month I was able to edit through the device I created it on. But now the ‘Edit’ button in the right corner disappeared.

Is there any way to connect the map to my account?

My guess is that your browser stored the cookie with edit permissions for the one month period. Then it got cleared for one reason or another. You need the “secret edit link” that uMap provides while editing.

If you manage to find where you recorded the link, you can take ownership of an anonymously-created map by logging in, going to edit your map, then click Update Permissions > Advanced Actions > Attach the map to my account

If you cannot find the secret edit link, you could contact the relevant admins and they might be able to link the map to your OSM account so that you can edit it again. However there are various umap servers (e.g. Swiss, French, German) and which admin to contact would depend on where you umap lives.
