Transport Victoria Open Data Portal

As specified at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Australian_Data_Sources, the OSM community has obtained a waiver for using CC BY 4.0 data from the data.vic.gov.au website made available by the Department of Transport and Planning in Victoria (waiver at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:DTP_Waiver_signed.pdf).

I have noticed that the DTP in Victoria is now using another website, https://opendata.transport.vic.gov.au/, or the Transport Victoria Open Data Portal, to disseminate its open data. Whilst many of the data on this website are licensed under CC BY 4.0, the waiver for OSM that I have linked to above does not cover anything published on the website as it specifically states data must be published at data.vic.gov.au to be covered under the waiver.

I figure (although please correct me if I am wrong) that a new waiver will be required in order to add data from the new website into OSM, however I am seeking advice here regarding if this is correct and what the best way to make these data usable on OSM would be.

I will link to the datasets which I believe could be useful for incorporation into OSM in a reply to this message.

Thank you very much in advance for your assistance.

I cannot put the links in as I am a new user. Here are the names of the datasets;

  • Public Transport Lines and Stops
  • Pop-up Bike Lanes
  • Speed Zones
  • Speed Signs

INAL but the waiver covers anything the department publishes under CC-BY 4.0 including what’s on data.vic.gov.au. Note that it’s not just the ones on data.vic.gov.au.
