I’ve cleaned some of the error messages in Weblate and I will soon create a glossary. Also, the mobile app translation will be open very soon (late 2024).
Also the translations are now prioritized and documented with comments: that helps the translation process
Italian language is fully translated! it will be live very soon
Japanese, Swedish, Polish, Dutch languages are almost completed! If you speak on of these languages, your contribution is welcome (also, in any other language too!)
Came accros translatewiki OpenStreetMap and other open source projects uses it for translation, but don’t now if its handy for us since we already use Weblate.
However, for the translation of Panoramax wikipedia pages, we can use the Content Translation tool.
If it is the traditional Chinese translation, which is used in Taiwan and Hong Kong, using the PRC’s(People’s Republic of China) flag🇨🇳 is not properate.
And I check the Weblate website, the Chinese version is Traditional Chinese, which should use Taiwan’s flag due Taiwan has the most usage of traditional Chinese.
Is it something that Panoramax team can change themselves? If not, I’d suggest contacting Weblate directly (as they are unlikely to follow this forum).
Although I guess whole idea of using flag icon to designate language is going to be problem if multiple countries are using same language (e.g. why should New Zealand users be forced use the flag of their ex-overlords Great Britain? Or English-using Canadian using USA flag?)
But of course if the flag were just changed from PRC to Taiwan; I’d guess they’d be complaints about that too, with various reasoning (respective size of the countries, total population using traditional Chinese instead of percentage etc). It would probably be preferable to avoid such solutions which make one side happy at the cost of making other side unhappy.
The few workable solutions that I see are:
get rid of the flags and use just text “Traditional Chinese” (probably better idea overall as it avoid the tensions, but likely significantly more UI work)
keep the flags but split “Traditional Chinese” to a two languages “Taiwan Traditional Chinese” and “PRC Traditional Chinese” which have 99% equal translations (easiest “fix” technically, but with long-term unnecessary workload increase on translators)
keep the flags but split “Traditional Chinese” to a two languages - “Traditional Chinese” with flag, and “Simplified Chinese” with (as it is more popular there AFAICT?)
have multiple flags (i.e. both and ) , but have them point to same translation language “Traditional Chinese” (i.e. make them aliases). That does not increase translator workload, but introduces some confusion to the system (and also need programming of that feature).
Are there more solutions? How do the other websites / apps resolve that PRC/Taiwan issue - do you have insight? If something works for both PRC and Taiwan users, perhaps that could implemented in Weblate too.
10 languages are now available for all Panoramax users !
French, English, German, Traditional Chinese, Portugese, Hungarian, Spanish, Italian, Danish & Esperanto.
So that’s +3 since November, adding Italian, Danish and Esperanto.

I have tried to register on multiple ocations and tried to send you this problem through the form on weblate.panoramax.xyz but without sucess, only gets errors and no email to confirm, could you fix the registration and? I will personally finish the Swedish translations.
When you say “test it yourself”, do you mean install development environment, pull the git, and compile it? Or is there something already precompiled available on GitLab (as it used to exist on GitHub before)? I see there is Deploy/Releases link on that URL, but it does not have anything?
Update: Doh, I missed the link in README.md, that contains build of latest master. I take it there is only such “nightly”, and not a “stable” / “testing” version (to use the OsmAnd / JOSM / Debian terminology - i.e. something deemed most presentable snapshot?)
Thanks @overflorian (and good work!), but I believe the PRC/Taiwan flags concern was voiced by @Supaplex and not myself (I was just the guy offering few possible solutions)
I’m not sure where to reports issues for that (given panoramax.fr is not the same as panoramax.ign.fr?), but when I choose the English (it is default for me) and click on that “Login / Register” button left of it, it always opens a page in French saying “Connectez-vous à votre compte” and some other things I don’t understand (without copy/pasting them manually one by one into some machine translation software).
I’d expect it should be shown in English (and those seems they should be among the first strings to be translated, importance-wise, so I doubt it is a missing translation?)
