Traffic Signs Code in Thailand

I’m looking for the official national traffic codes for Thailand. Does anyone know where to find the original regulations?

I’d like to map signs prohibiting motorcycles and bicycles in Chiang Mai as individual nodes rather than applying access restrictions to entire ways. This approach helps prevent misinterpretation and makes maintenance easier by clearly marking the exact locations where legal restrictions apply.

Tagging these signs would require a specific code, such as traffic_sign=TH:XX,XX.

Relevant references:

Here there’s a list of code for each sign. (บ.1, บ.2, etc.)

Thanks, Nat!

I added the PDF link to the Wikipedia page. For those interested, I’ll include the screenshots below for reference.

I realized that Wikipedia actually has the code on each individual image.
For example, the “motorcycle prohibited” sign: Wikipedia link

It would be tagged as traffic_sign=TH:บ.16

Ooh, non-ASCII sign codes! This will be a fun little gotcha for anyone writing software for mapping or visualizing traffic_sign=* nodes. Let’s make sure these codes are adequately documented on the wiki so they’re easy to find. There can be a page or series of pages that map each of these sign diagrams to both the code (for traffic_sign=*) and also any tags you’d use on nearby roadways etc. We have a series of similar articles for other countries that you can use as a model to follow. You’d probably find the Philippines page especially helpful with its similar mix of European and American sign styles.

Is this a critical issue? What about the dot . separator? Such schema is already used on highway references (e.g., highway=secondary + ref=อย.3006).

Yep, it’ll be useful and just needs to be done once. I’ll eventually get to it myself when I find the time. Thanks for the Philippines doc link!

Not at all, I’m happy to learn of it and hope OSM software will properly account for it.
