Tagging a proposed station on an existing subway line

Hi,

Can someone please advise on the best way to tag a proposed station on an existing line. Specifically, the station has been partially built when the line was tunneled and there are 2 ventialion / entrance buildings in place, however the station completely unused in the middle of a field that will not be developed for 10 years or so. There are fully-used stations on each side of the proposed station.

Tagging the station as “proposed” shows the node on the map and it appears to be in use. This could lead to confusion for map users and routing engines. Tagging as “construction” would not be accurate (because it is not under construction), but this would at least take it off the map.

The station is tagged as

name=Bukit Brown
proposed=subway
railway=station
ref=CC18

Any advice?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi,

I think disused: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:disused or abandoned: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:abandoned can fit your need.

For a “partially built then abondoned”, I would prefer “abandoned” since “diused” suggests that the feature was used in the past. But this is not your case.

Tagging it as Proposed would mean there’s (almost) nothing there yet. Construction would mean it’s not yet finished. Disused would mean it’s there but can nolonger be used. Abandoned would mean even more destroyed.
On the other hand just being there means it is finished and could be used. It does not mean that subways are actually stopping here, but they could.

So I would go for “it’s in use, even though it’s not used” :slight_smile:

If you still want to tag it as construction or something use them as prefix, i.e. “construction:railway”=tram_stop.

Thanks for all the replies. They confirm that there is no neat solution! I think we’ll leave it as proposed.
