An infobox has been added to the top of the wiki page for sport=running by @geozeisig suggesting that sport=athletics + athletics=running should be used instead.
This might be reasonable on running tracks, where running is a part of track and field, but I don’t recall seeing any discussion of this change in general, let alone an RFC for deprecation.
Alas, “making changes without discussion” is something that this user has done before.
Given the history, if something looks wrong, I’d revert to the status quo ante and suggest that they discuss more widely before making it again.
That said, a stopped clock is right twice a day, so (after discussion) it might make sense to keep that wiki page change - but we do need to talk about it first.
