Anyone been to there local Sainsbury’s recently? Apparently they are closing. (Possibly to be replaced with Costa or Starbucks?)

It’s a sad day for Sainsbury’s shoppers, as the retailer has just confirmed its going to be closing all 61 of its remaining cafés.

As of today, there is still 67 listed on the Sainsbury’s website (That’s more than 61?!). Who knows what’s actually happening…

How are these cafes mapped? I tried finding some of them in OSM but wasn’t able to do so.

One day I will learn not to try to do anything quick in Overpass Turbo[1], but here’s a modification that tries to catch all cafes within a Sainsbury’s.

It catches a few that only have the primary tag on them and nothing else. As well as a bunch of Starbuckses.

Sainsbury’s cafe in Whitchurch was still open when I was there last week.

The cafe in Sainsbury’s Shrewsbury has been a Starbucks for as long as I can remember.
