Road junctions divided only by hatched lines

Hello, according to the guidance in the wiki, I do not think we can map road junctions divided only by hatched lines (like this and this) as separate ways any more.

There has to be at least a physical barrier or kerb/grass island before we can map road junctions as separate ways.

I am sorry, but I did not make this guidance up. If you are worried about how to map the layout of such road junctions, we can use one or more of the following tags:

  • lanes:forward/backward=* (usage)
  • turn:lanes:forward/backward=* (usage)
  • placement:forward=* (usage).

Any mappers who still split road junctions divided only by hatched lines should transition to the aforementioned new scheme.

In addition, I am minded to consult on whether we should have a hatched=yes tag or something similar to describe such layouts.

I know about the dual_carriageway=* tag (usage), but that is meant to, if I recall correctly, distinguish between actual dual carriageways and one-way systems like this.

I do not think dual_carriageway=no justifies the use of separate ways for road junctions divided only by hatched lines.
