This proposal aims to provide a framework for improved industrial tagging in OSM. There have been several discussions on the topic over time, and there is a general feeling that being able to describe industries in more detail than man_made=works + product=? would be valuable.
I’ve taken inspiration from the power=plant family of tags, which do a fairly similar thing for power plants.
My intention at this point isn’t to hammer out an exact list of tag values, partly because it’s such a large topic that I don’t think any single proposer or proposal can do it.
