Request to Create Group for Communication Working Group (CWG)

Hello forum admins and moderators,

My name is Brazil Singh , On behalf of the members of the Communication Working Group (CWG), I would like to request the creation of a dedicated user group on this forum, similar to existing groups such as @osmf-board, @osmf-data-wg and @osmf-ewg

Purpose of the Group:

  • To identify members of the CWG within the forum.
  • To allow CWG members to optionally display their membership via the group badge/icon next to their avatars.
  • To support transparency and recognition of the working group’s contributions.

Requested Group Details:

  • Group name: @osmf-cwg
  • Group title: Communication Working Group
  • Description: Members of the OSMF Communications Working Group (CWG)

Please let us know if anything else is needed to move forward. We appreciate your support!

Thanks,
Brazil Singh

Looks like a good proposal, Brazil. I am not the facilitator of these requests but I thought you might want to list the fellow group members here.

Also a word of wisdom: Some of my DWG colleagues wished to remain off the user group on the forum when we set that up. You may want to get each member’s concurrence. Their impacts of being a member mean:

  1. They’ll get a :bell: notification when someone tags that anywhere
  2. They can optionally add the title to the forum avatar (see mine)
  3. People can message you on the group. If some are not members this can create a minor conversational gap.

Several of us on CWG would be happy to see this in place

Who should be the group owner(s)? These should be one or more CWG members who would be responsible for adding or removing members from the forum group when people join or leave CWG.

Hi @Tordanik please add me and @mikelmaron group owner.
Thanks

I’ve created @osmf-cwg just now. As group owners, you and Mikel should be able to update the group’s settings, tweak the presentation and description to your liking and add the remaining members.

At the moment, I haven’t enabled the ability to send direct messages to the group yet. You can enable it, but if you choose to do so, you should be prepared to respond if community members approach you through that channel.

Thanks for setting up the group!

I’ll review the group settings, update the description, and work with Mikel to adjust the presentation to reflect our goals. We’ll also start adding the remaining CWG members shortly.

Regarding direct messaging: I appreciate the heads-up. I’ll discuss it with Mikel and the team first, and we’ll decide whether or not to enable it based on our availability to respond actively.

Thanks again for your support!
