Hello and welcome to the OpenStreetMap community.
I have to guess everything, since you didn’t share which editor you’re using or the location, but my first guess is: You’re using the iD editor at osm.org, and the building is linked to a Wikidata/Wikipedia entry. In that case, you can’t change the name, since it’s locked together with the Wikidata/Wikipedia tag.
no idea what raw tags editor is? but willing to learn.
Currently doing up a power-point presentation on editing OSM to NHS estate managers, an area that is usually overlooked or not thought about..
At the end of the left sidebar you can open “Eigenschaften” in German → I guess it’s “Attributes” or similar wording and click on the cursor icon to get into the raw tag editor:
But you don’t need it here anyway, because there is no wikidata item blocking you from removing the name. Anyway, instead of simply removing the name, it would be better to provide the correct name.
One thing that I do notice is that your edit link above zoomed in on where the name appears in the online editor - you actually have to click on the edge of the area to select it.
have tried to find an edge for this label but had no luck. The label of William Farr House is appropriate for now, anything else will confused patients and delivery drivers with our main hospital down the road.
Not sure if the community is interested but I presented to 33x NHS Estate and Facility planners yesterday on my mapping experience. Following from that meeting ,I have been asked to do a work shop on how to edit the system. It was re-assuring to hear approval of my efforts in making travel journeys less stressful and hopefully more sustainable.
thank you
Alex
The name on William Far House looks like it was down to me.
I have corrected it using my local knowledge. I’m a regular there for blood tests.
I have also corrected the duplicate hospital tags on The Royal Shrewsbury and The Princess Royal as these contravene the One Feature, one OSM Element rule, https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element. I have not removed anything, just given them more appropriate tags.
