One thing I’ve discovered so far, regarding addr:unit.
Saw several instances where a single structure has two nodes, both with matching addresses. One will have addr:unit=A
, while the other does not have an addr:unit=*
tag.
My practice thus far when this occurs is to delete the node with the addr:unit
tag.
Now, if there were two nodes, both with addr:unit
, I would keep both. Or, if there were 3 nodes, two with different addr:unit
identifiers, and the third with no addr:unit
, I would delete the node with no addr:unit
tag. The latter example was is very popular in Augusta County, however many times I only kept the building node removing the unit nodes because it was impossible to organize them.
My resoning is that it does not seem practical for a building to have an address of ‘123 Anyplace Way’, and ‘123 Anyplace Way, Unit A’. I guess it’s possible, but I really don’t think that’s how the building would be in real life, both nodes probably should have unit designations, but not knowing what the second identifier might be, I remove the single lone node with an identifier.
Does this sound good?
