Hi all
We’ve had a message from the NYC Dept of Health come in to the DWG, concerning building an AED location register, & suggesting that we may be able to help!
"Dear OpenStreetMap Team,
I hope this email finds you well. My name is Daniel Okpare from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH). We are actively working on building a comprehensive AED location registry, and we believe that collaborating with platforms like OpenStreetMap (OSM) could greatly enhance the quality and accessibility of our data.
About Us: NYCDOHMH is committed to providing accurate and up-to-date AED location information for public use. Our registry will include a wide range of data, from points of interest to geographic boundaries.
The Opportunity: We are interested in exploring the possibility of sharing our data with OSM. Specifically, we would like to discuss how our AED locations could be integrated into the OSM ecosystem. By doing so, we aim to contribute to the richness of OSM’s map data and promote open data collaboration.
Benefits of Collaboration:
Enhanced Coverage: Our registry contains valuable location details that could complement existing OSM data.
Quality Improvement: By cross-referencing data, we can identify discrepancies and improve accuracy.
Community Impact: Our shared goal is to provide reliable information to users worldwide.
Next Steps: If you are interested in exploring this collaboration, I propose scheduling a brief call or meeting to discuss the technical aspects and potential alignment between our datasets. Please let me know your availability, and we can find a suitable time.
Thank you for considering this opportunity. We look forward to the possibility of working together to create a more robust and inclusive mapping experience.
Best,

I’ll tell Daniel that I’ve passed the info over here, but will leave it up to you good people to take things further.
To me, it sounds like an awesome opportunity to get more AED locations into OSM though!
