Problem Downloading Data from HOT Export Tool OSM

Hello everyone,

I am encountering an issue while trying to download data from the HOT Export Tool on the OSM website. The download process either fails or does not complete successfully. Here are some details:

  1. Internet Connection: My internet connection is stable.
  2. Server Status: I am not aware of any ongoing server maintenance or overload.
  3. Data Size: I am trying to download a relatively large dataset, but it should be within the allowed limits.
  4. Export Settings: I have checked my export settings, and they seem correct.
  5. Attempts: I have tried multiple times and from different devices, but the issue persists.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Are there any known issues with the HOT Export Tool recently? I would appreciate any advice or solutions you might have.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
[Najla]

Just to be clear, what exactly did you do and what exactly happened?

Edit: Please provide more information. What is the “Hot export tool”? At what URL can we see it? How do you define what data to download? What data did you select?

I tried downloading data in PBF format through the HOT Export Tool, but it displayed a “failed” message, so the data could not be downloaded. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any suggestions on how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

@najlaaly Did you mean this? Yes or not, a screenshot and URL will be super helpful in addressing your question

Sorry if you meant a different tool. But if this is the tool you were referring to, it looks good on my end. But you can also download PBF from Geofabrik.

I just tried to export a part of Switzerland as .pbf and .geojson, which both worked as expected.

You’ll have to be more explicit in telling us what exactly you try to export.

Interestingly the top of that screen says “We have recently upgraded from OAuth 1.0 to 2.0. Please Logout and Login again before use!”

Assuming that this is the relevant tool (and we’re guessing, because the person asking the question hasn’t told us  ) then that is obviously something to try.

I don’t know what happened, but I tried it yesterday with two accounts, and it still didn’t work.

@najlaaly It looks like you’re from Indonesia. If so, you might want to join the Telegram OSM Indonesia group (Telegram: Contact @osmindonesia). By the way, can you share the link to the page you’re working on? Like mine

It’s not an Oauth issue - if I rerun that export as a valid logged-in Oauth2 user it also fails. It presents no further information that “Failed” so you’ll probably need to ask HOT to help diagnose the problem.

@najlaaly I cloned your workflow, but it failed initially. However, it worked when I selected the “Download All OSM Data” option. Please check my link here.
