OSM webservices SRS list

Hello all,

Here in my company we’re evaluating the possibility of use the street map as a layer in a government project. But here in Brazil the official SRS is EPSG:4674 (SIRGAS 2000) and the OSM webservices (as we know so far…) don´t comply with. It is possible to request the inclusion of EPSG:4674 in the supported SRS list of OSM webservices? What is the most adequate channel to do so?

Thanks
Israel

You probably don’t want to talk about “OSM webservices” here but instead want to do something with the data. See the links from OSM’s copyright page for more details of the licence implications: http://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright. For links to where to get the data from, start from here: http://planet.osm.org/. I’d imagine you want to start with an extract of Brazil (or a smaller extract).

If (as I suspect) you want to display OSM data in a different projection, have a read of http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Projected_version_of_an_OSM_extract. It’s not something that I’ve ever done, but sounds like the place to start.

The best place to ask questions like this is probably https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev - there you should find someone who’s done it before

Also, don’t forget that there’s a “users: Brazil” sub-forum here - people there might be interested in what you’re doing.

Thank you for your answer, very helpful.

But I don’t made myself clear, I think… Let me explain: we would like to use the WMS Service provided by OSM as a layer in our project. It´s a GIS Web solution, and the WMS Service provide by OSM don’t permit to be called using EPSG:4674. Seems just a configuration missing on your WMS Service. Should I ask this question on https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev or is there a more appropriate channel to do that?

Which “WMS Service provided by OSM”? I can see a list of third-party servers listed here:

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Template:Wms_servers

but no “provided by OSM” one.

Thank you, now I get it!
