Hi there, I would appreciate some help.
Recently I bought a Garmin Montana 700 (modern GPS) for motorcycle trips in the mountains.
My reason(s) for purchasing a GPS unit rather than continuing to use a mobile phone are-bigger screen, other functions and durability that make a GPS more suitable .
Nothing to do with wanting to use Garmin maps . I am based in Greece (Europe)
Prior to this I used an app called cruiser(android) and kurviger(desktop)
As you can see they use default OSM map .This map is easy to read, intuitive and covers a lot of my needs. For more details I can use sat images at home on a computer.
Questions?
1/-is it possible to load the Greece region of the default OSM map (or another version with dual languages local and English) into the Garmin Montana 700 SO WHEN LOADED IT LOOKS LIKE THE OSM DEFAULT PAGE.
2/ I have looked around for a website that uses the same look and display as the default OSM map but cant find one . Most seem to be cycling maps, which is not a bad thing at all but to get started with all this I would prefer to use the original default map. Obviously before I can attempt downloading it, putting it onto the SD card planning a route, transferring that GPX file to the Garmin etc,etc I want to know if what Iām doing is possible.
If not I have two options.
A/Find another map that I can work with or B/ sell the Garmin.
As a general observation I have had a browse of the Garmin base camp and it seems incredibly fiddly, long winded and time-consuming to how I am used to planning routes.
thank you and a good new year to everyone
