This is our official announcement that TransAct has followed the required steps to become an organized group editor in OSM.
TransAct is a group of people brought together by our work for a school bus routing software. We currently only have customers in the U.S.A., and we will only be making edits there. Our edits will primarily be the ways surrounding schools, and adding new developments that are in our customer’s school districts.
We will use the #transact for all of our edits.
There have been prior issues, that were are working and addressing with the Data Working Group, where some in our organization have even been blocked from editing. This was due primarily to not following the editing guidelines, especially with the extra requirements for an organized group of editors.
Some of the issues were also due to prior leadership in our organization that was not aware of the Organized editing guidelines and just told our staff to “create an account and start editing”—these staff are no longer with our group. From this previously leadership, there was also some careless changes that had been made by some in our organization, as part of our commitment to make things right, all of our staff will be going through the getting started walkthrough, and reviewing this LearnOSM that we were given from the Data Working Group.
This account (same as the account that is the main contact on the Wiki page) is a great way to get a hold of many people in our organization if there are concerns with this group.
