Mapping pickup parking spaces

Many grocery stores nowadays have a small amount of parking spaces dedicated for the pick-up of online orders. File:Best Buy Curbside Pickup.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

parking_space=pickup seems to be growing in popularity, and likely refers to exactly those. Any objection if this is documented on the wiki?

Is that being used for places to pick up people or purchases? Or both?

It looks like some has previously raised parking=collection for ‘click and collect’ type things.

Exactly! Same proposal  In the UK, McDonald’s and high street supermarket Tesco have rolled out these spaces nationwide.

In the US it would be considered kerb-side pickup/collection

Oh indeed! Would be great to see the proposal gain some traction again. And maybe differentiating between people and purchases could be done with a subtag?

I had used parking_space=pickup for this, with ref for the parking space number to tell the store when one arrives, but only because I couldn’t find anything specifically documented on how to do it. I don’t know as I particularly care whether it’s called pickup or collection (this might be a regional dialect difference), but it’d be good to standardize.

As a non-native, my first association with parking_space=pickup was pick up lines for flirting. Indulging a car-free lifestyle, I’d accept such a proposal only if it introduces a tag bicycle_parking=pickup as well
