I’ve attempted to map a local donkey sanctuary, tagging it as amenity=animal_shelter and also filling in the address in the addr:* fields. However, looking at openstreetmap, it’s rendering the addr:housename (technically correct, but only really useful if you want to post them a letter), not the name, which is what people who want to visit the sanctuary will be looking for on a map.
Assuming it’s not an issue with the renderer, how can I improve the tags so that it shows as expected?
The first thing I would try is to separate the amenity from the building. Place a node into the building and shift the tags belonging to the amenity there.
I am quite sure that both the names of the building and the amenity will not be shown on the standard map because the area of the building is very small, and I don’t know which name will be given preference, but it’s worth a try.
