Two colleagues and I are currently working on a map to record (some of) the camps that were visited by the Red Cross during WWII. We have created four layers for four types of camp (prisoner-of-war camps, civilian internment camps, hospitals and military hospitals, and labour detachments).
For some reason we cannot understand, the fourth layer (work detachments) simply disappeared yesterday. Yet we had taken care to save our data regularly as we went along.
As the entire layer has disappeared (and not just the data within the layer), we are unfortunately unable to revert to a previous version of the layer.
I have a backup of the data (though it’s several weeks old, so we’ll lose some data unfortunately 
), but I’d like to make the map available on a blog in read-only mode, and I’d like to understand why that layer disappeared before publishing it.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
