Is this a bug in the standard osm.org renderer?

The image below is from the area around this way.

It shows the IFC Cloud Cable Car route as it crosses over Silvertown Way in London. The cable car is tagged as layer 4, the road is tagged as layer 1. Yet the road is drawn over the cable. On the other nearby roads, like Dock Road (no layer tag, so understood to be layer 0) the cable is ‘correctly’ drawn on top.

Anyone have any reason why I shouldn’t report this to the osm.org Standard Layer renderer maintainers? Am I missing something?

Yes it is a known issue: highway with bridge=yes rendering above aerialway · Issue #5128 · gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto · GitHub

It should be resolved in next Carto release.

BTW, is there a way to find out which Carto release is rendering the tiles currently served on osm.org?

Well chef/roles/tile.rb at 2943e2cb7e273b139f796fee86323b4882461340 · openstreetmap/chef · GitHub will tell you but it would be very unusual for it not to be the current release for any length of time.

Ah, so it’s the latest tag on Tags · gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto · GitHub ?

So currently the v5.9.0 tag from Oct 17, 2024?

And the changes that haven’t been yet deployed can be found via Github at (for v5.9.0) Comparing v5.9.0...master · gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto · GitHub ?
