I am using the jnlp version of JOSM and there is no way to pin it to the taskbar. I do not like icons on my desktop. When you open JOSM on Windows 11 there is no options on the right click menu to do anything. Does anyone know if this is possible?
I’m using the jar version and created a batch script to start and update jOSM. On top you need to create a shortcut to run the script. You can give it a nice icon and pin it to your start menu or taskbar.
That doesn’t help me. I appreciate the information if I ever use the jar version though!
Hi, If I open JOSM in Win11 the icon appears in the taskbar, then right click the JOSM icon there’s an option to pin it to the taskbar.
That’s exactly what should happen. When I right click there the only option is to close the window. I remember on Windows 10, you could kind of pin it.
Another way is to right click the JOSM app in the search menu, there should be an option to “Pin to taskbar”. Both ways I’ve mentioned work for me in Windows 11.
Somehow with the OpenWebStart front I first had to create a shortcut on the desktop and drag it onto the taskbar. When I launch JOSM/OWS, it actually creates a second entry on the taskbar, but can’t pin it, the app refuses to stack into one icon, every launch a new taskbar icon.
Put one icon right of the JOSM taskbar launch icon to know which one is a life window and which is the launcher (the one underscored in the screensnap).
Hit the launcher and it’s another 2+ minute wait, often much longer before I can actually start loading the background imagery and work files.
The only option for the life window icon is ‘close window’
