Is mailing list mode still working?

In my profile, preferences / emails says “Mailing list mode enabled”, but I have not had any emails since 25/1/2025. My email address used for this forum is just a regular Gmail address and I haven’t changed anything there to my knowledge.

It works for me, I received your message by email and am replying by email.

Thanks - I’ve switched it to a different email and if that fixes it will switch back.

Well that didn’t work. There was a new post in a thread I’ve posted to previously, and I did not get an email notification. Must be something at Discourse in my settings I guess.

I’ve tried turning “mailing list mode” off and then on again. Let’s see if that works…

Edit: It’s not just mailing list mode. Any emails from Discourse aren’t sent - even DMs, even if “Email me when I am sent a personal message” is set to “always”.

Regular OSM PMs are still received, as are messages from numerous other OSM systems - the problem seems only to be with Discourse…

… and when I swap email addresses back, all OSM messages work, apart from all Discourse ones that do not.

A secondary account (this one) can receive Discourse PMs, and turning mailing list mode on with this account does cause it to receive other messages.

Is this one off the same Gmail account, or non-Gmail?

It’s a different email address at the same “other” mail server that I had the “SomeoneElse” account pointed to before changing it back. It’s a server I control and it will always accept email (even if it then marks it as spam).

So possibly “just” another Gmail issue, of which we’ve had many? :roll_eyes:

No, because the “SomeoneElse” account doesn’t get any mails in mailing list mode but “SomeoneElse2” does, even when they both point at the non-Gmail mail server.

For completeness, the way to change the email address in Discourse is like this:

  • in osm,org settings, change the email address, and say “yes” to the verification emails.
  • in a new private browser, login to c.osm.org.
  • That goes through the authentication process and updates the c.osm.org account with the new osm.org email address.

… just to add that at 00:46 (17 minutes ago) mails started coming through again. Thanks to Firefishy for fixing it!
