Improve Pedestrian Navigation in Finland with New MapRoullette Challenges

Hi OSM Finland,

I would like to announce two new MapRoulette challenges designed to improve the quality of pedestrian navigation data in Finland!

Challenges:

  • Finland - Fix Pedestrian’s Areas network This challenge focuses on ensuring Pedestrian Areas in Finland are properly connected for navigation apps. Many pedestrian areas lack internal “highways” (mostly pedestrian-related paths) that connect them to nearby streets. Your help is needed to add these missing connections!
  • Finland - Fix Isolated Pedestrians’ network This challenge aims to identify and fix isolated pedestrian highways. These are short disconnected segments that prevent proper routing for pedestrians. By connecting them to the broader network, we can ensure a smoother navigation experience.

Why is this important?

Accurate pedestrian data is crucial for seamless multi-modal transportation. This project will improve navigation for people who walk, bike, and use public transportation in Finland.

This is TomTom’s first data improvement project in Finland, and we appreciate your support. Please feel free to leave any comments, questions, or suggestions below.

Thank you,

Salim
