Import OSM files into Garmin Edge 1000

The only files I can download from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ are .typ
Garmin tech support says they only read .img files. I don’t see any option to download .img files. Please help

Hmmm… If I

  1. open http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/
  2. select
    2.1 Generic Routable
    2.2 none Fype-File
    2.3 a predefined country (e.g. Europ → Andora)
  3. click on “Download map now!”
  4. click on “osm_generic_gmapsupp.zip”
  5. download “osm_generic_gmapsupp.zip”
  6. unzip osm_generic_gmapsupp.zip

I get a “gmapsupp.img”.

What did you do to receive a TYPE-File only?
