Image hosting with Google Photos (photos.app.goo.gl)

Hi,
i recently saw a lot of objects, which have a Google Photos URL, starting with https://photos.app.goo.gl/, in their image tag.

The changesets all mention an OpenPoiMap link in the comment. Is OpenPoiMap preferring to add Google-hosted images?

Another problem which arises while using URLs with photos.app.goo.gl is that this a shorturl. And shorturls shall not be used in OSM: Key:website - OpenStreetMap Wiki. The page explictely lists goo.gl as bad example.

If hosting images with Google Photos and linking from OSM to it is okay, shall we at least remove the shorturl and save the full URL?

image tag has no real limitation on where image are hosted (making many of them unusuable or with limited use due to licensing issues)

Sounds like an OK edit, though improvement is not very significant. You can also ask whoever is adding them to at least add proper links
