How to properly set which lanes traffic should use

There’s a two lane onramp that merges 287 on to I-40 in Amarillo that - just after merge, the right lane has to immediately get into the left lane, and causes quite a few semi’s to get into wrecks in this area.

The right lane ends up going to the access road, and - though vehicles have the ability to get in the left lane just after the merge, in reality they don’t have enough time.

Would setting ‘turn:lanes=slight_left|slight_right’ be the right action for the onramp? or should I mark the merged section of the highway as ‘turn:lanes=through|through|through|slight_right’?

From what I can tell, the latter option seems correct. The left lane from the on-ramp continues through, no merge needed, and the right one just turns into an exit lane.
