I was looking online for maps that I could download for my Magellan Roadmate 3030-LM and in the process I discovered this site. I saw in a post by user:Sockeye that there was a website called maps4me.net where one could download maps for Magellan devices, but when I tried to go to that website I got an error message, which I guess means the website is no longer in operation. So is there a way to download a map file from this site or from Geofabrik and convert it to an .imi file and then download it into a microSD card to be used in a Magellan Roadmate 3030-LM? Is there any special software or programs I need to do this? And do I need to create a certain folder in the microSD card in order for the Magellan Roadmate to detect it?
I was also interested in downloading custom POI files for my Magellan Roadmate. I noticed that in the internal memory of my device the POI files had a .poi file extension, so should I find software that can convert .csv POI files into .poi? Or should it be in a .mgln format? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Also if I use a microSD card does the card have to have a specific format like FAT32 or can I use any format? And can the Magellan Roadmate read more than one map file?
The Wayback machine of the Internet Archive has archived a version of the maps4me from November 2024: Welcome-Maps4me
I was able to download Europes basemap file from there, so others should work, too.

I see, do you know if it’s possibe to merge the detailed map files from the archived website? For example, Canada is divided into 10 different maps in .imi format, do you know how I could merge those maps?
Yea that’s too bad. Geofabrik has map files in the osm.pbf format that can be downloaded, but do you know how they can be converted into other formats, specifically the .imi format used in Magellan Roadmate devices and other older Magellan devices?
I installed Java Runtime Environment and downloaded the RMP Creator file, but when I tried to open the file a pop-up window appeared saying the application cannot be opened
I read on OpenStreetMap Wiki that a program called mm.gen can be used to make vector maps for Magellan devices in the .imi format. Do you know where I can download it? I’ve been searching the internet for it but I can’t find it.
Haha, I’ll try what I can do with this Magellan first. I downloaded an osm.pbf file from Geofabrik and converted it into o5m, and now I’m trying to use mm.gen to convert that into an .imi file, but I need to get the minimum and maximum latitudes and longitudes of the .o5m file. Do know how I can find these values?
There is a plugin to open .osm.pbf files in Josm https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Plugins/PBF
I haven’t used it but assume you can view the max and min lat and long by scrolling across the open file view in Josm.
You may not need to find that info as you may be able to nominate a smaller area of the .05m file to suit your needs.
I suggest you start small to find out the limits of what size file the Magellan can store/display first.
Thanks for the tip! I downloaded and installed Josm, opened a .osm.pb2 map of Greenland as a test and got the coordinates for maximum and minimum latitude and longitude. I was then able to use mm.gen.jar in Command Prompt to produce a .imi file. I saw in Mm.gen - OpenStreetMap Wiki instructions for using maven, but I didn’t understand it. What is the command maven clean install supposed to do after I created the .imi file?
Also I transferred the .imi file to my Magellan and I checked available regions in the Settings but I didn’t see Greenland there.
