How to List Operating Hours of Shop with Variable Seasonal Closure?

There’s a local ice cream shop that is open Monday through Saturday from something like the second half of spring to somewhere in the fall. They are 100% Amish run and don’t have consistent open and close dates, they just put a sign up on a random piece of paper saying “we’re closing on x date, thanks for a great season!” at some point.

How should what basically comes down to “open until we decide sales have slowed down” be tagged?

Should it just be tagged as seasonal? The “operating hours” tag seems to be too exact for what they do.

You can describe it in text: opening_hours="Mo-Sa second half of spring to somewhere in the fall".

My suggestion would be to tag rough month values and add a free-text comment. Something like opening_hours=May-Sep Mo-Sa "open second half of spring to somewhere in the fall"

I think that’s a little bit more machine readable. It says that the place is open from start of May until end of September (adjust as necessary), Monday to Saturday, and the quotes enclose the human-readable comment. The tag also communicates the inexactness to other mappers
