How to import a .SID file into OSM as a background?

I have a .SID file of a hi-resolution photo of the county that I would like to import into OSM as a Background. How can this be done? I have done a lot of reading and trying different things to no avail. I use ID Editor, not JOSM.

I haven’t worked though this in great detail, but here is something you might try:

  • Convert the MrSID file to something that Map Server can use using GDAL
  • Use Map Server to create a WMS or WMTS service
  • Consume above service in iD
