how to delete parts of streets that Tiger shows as through but aren't

I am a relatively novice contributor. I’ve been able to add new features and edit existing ones, but I have not been able to delete parts of streets in the US that are based on Tiger data but which don’t actually exist (in some cases, Tiger shows a through street where actually the street ends). I’m using Potlach online for editing and can’t figure out how to delete just part of a street (or a whole street for that matter).

Thank you for any tips on how to fix these errors.

Method 1:

  • Click on the point where the “false” way starts
  • Hit “x” to split the way at that point
  • Click on the point where the “false” way ends
  • Hit “x” to split the way at that point
  • Click on the part you 've just cut out to highlight it.
  • Hit “Shift+Del”

Method 2:

  • Click on the point where the “false” way starts
  • Hit “x” to split the way at that point
  • Click on the wrong part of the street to highlight it
  • Click on the last point of that way (the one where you split the way)
  • Hit “Del” until all points of the false way have been deleted.

PHerison,

Thank you!! I didn’t know about using Shift with Delete. This makes it so easy.

Thanks again!
