E.g. “ref:se:skolverket” to “ref:SE:skolverket”? (“se” is the ISO 639 language code for Northern Saami, “SE” is the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code for Sweden - the intention in this key is “Sweden”)
- Make an Overpass request of all objects which have the desired tag, e.g.
ref:se:skolverket - Export the data to JOSM
- Select only objects with the tag in question
- Rename the tag
- Upload your changes
I can do it for you if you give me a list of tags you’d like to change.
Also “0. Read the automated edits policy and follow it.”
(Besides, are you sure this is what you want to do? I thought :sv was the OSM code for Sweden. We don’t generally use upper case characters in OSM keys.)
The distinction they are driving is that sv is the Swedish language and SE is the Sweden country code, but se is neither
Sweden ≠ Swedish
Thanks a lot, overpass 2cXr for “ref:se:skolverket” created: overpass turbo
I don’t use JOSM, so it would be helpful if you could do it.
The change has been proposed 8 days ago at: Standardise - switch from "ref:se:" to "ref:SE:"
So far four likes received and no opposing reaction. It doesn’t seem problematic, and in case after it has been done it turns out it was problematic, it would be easy to revert it.
taginfo chronology shows usage went over 100 cases only around 2023/2024 ref:se:skolverket | Keys | OpenStreetMap Taginfo
It was proposed by @leojth in a discussion about adding the IDs to insert “se” into the key, and accepted by @novabeat . I replied to that proposal at Manual import of schools in Sweden - #22 by Tobias_Conradi and made a pull request in github to change the key in the script from using “se” to using “SE”: Update writeOsmFiles.js ref:SE:skolverket by annainfo · Pull Request #1 · matthiasfeist/skolverket2osm · GitHub
There is no wiki page for the key “ref:se:skolverket”. The other two to be changed:
- ref:se:scb
- ref:se:pts:postort
each are used longer, have more usage and have a wiki page, thus they need more work and announcements before being changed.

@ilias the patch has been merged: Update writeOsmFiles.js ref:SE:skolverket by annainfo · Pull Request #1 · matthiasfeist/skolverket2osm · GitHub - so new data via that script would use “ref:SE:skolverket”. Could you implement the conversion?
Done.
