I have created a node years back, which is no longer valid (due to retirement)
Hi, welcome to the forum!
The specifics can vary. I assume you are using the editor on osm.org (iD) and you are on a PC.
After selecting the node, you can:
- Right-click on it and select the trash can in the context menu.
- Hit the “Delete” button on your keyboard.
- Use the key combination Ctrl+Backspace.
If you have questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask. It may also be useful to know the node (via link) or what kind it is. Sometimes, deletion is not the best way forward.
Thank you.
Worked on the Browser on Mac.
It showed my house as (doctor) feature, but I retired already 2 years ago.
Please share at least the approximate location (town/city and country should be enough) and one of us will look into it.
It’s done. how do I close the issue?
It closes immediately after submitting the changes.
Tip: press Ctrl-F5 to refresh the tiles if you’re looking on osm.org
Hopefully the house is still in the database ( “on the map” )
I don’t know what you did, but in OSM, the doctors office still exists and there are no additional edits to your name.
Some categories and communities in this forum allow comments to be marked as “solutions”, but this one doesn’t. If you consider this question solved, you may prepend [SOLVED]
to the title.
I right clicked, then Save, and the page greys out.
Maybe I must try with Safari.

Thank you, I removed it in this changeset
Thank you,
given that I have no clue really, when will that (deletion) be visible?

It entirely depends on the OSM-based application.
Carto (what you see by default on osm.org) refreshes within 5 minutes at most, if you press Ctrl-F5 to force a cache refresh.
As for other apps it can be anywhere from a few days to several months (or years).
Thank you,
I can still see the icon (without description) and don’t seem to be able to search for it, even in a separate browser. So I’ll wait for a while and check again.
I use Organic Maps, by the way, and will wait and see what their next upgrade brings :-)-O
OM typically updates about once a month with fresh data from around the 5th to 15th of a month.
Thanks.
I am not in a hurry :-)-O
