How can remove place in map ?

hi all , i need to map without place
i ask this question in stack overflow

but was not exactly clear for me ,I need help with step by step

I think you will get the same answer here as you got at

If you remove the place from OSM you remove it for everyone in the world. If the place was valid, then that is vandalism.

If you want to render a map that omits that place, most likely you will have to render it yourself.

Actually, the question is reasonable. It is clear the author is nowhere near native fluent in English. I have worked is a high technology environment with highly educated worker providing in-house consulting services (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory) for more than two decades. This style of English is familiar to me.

I take the liberty of restating the question.

I need a small area, rendered map without the POI (Point Of Interest) markings. I do not understand how to do this. I need step by step instructions describing how to do this. Please, help me.

For the benefit of other, non-native fluent readers, here are translations to a few other world languages.

Bitte hilf mir.

how can i render it ?

It would be good if you mention in which format or for what purpose you want the map. E.g. the toolchain is different for a printed map as for a map on a website. And even for a website it’s different if you want a static map of a small area (e.g. town) or the whole world.

If you want a printed map, take a look at e.g. Maperative (, based on one of the example rules ( it should be pretty easy to make a map for printing or a static map (jpg) for a town without labels.

A) Use
B) Search for area of interest. For example: Put “15 Rue Claude Bernard, Paris, France” into search box and click go.
C) Zoom to desired area and Export to file to your computer.
D) Click mapquest.mrules. Click “Raw”. Save file from browser.
E) Click Download latest version.
F) Unzip the downloaded file at a location of your choice.
G) Click Maperitive.exe in that location. Control-N to clear the map. Click “File” and load the file from C).
H) Drag-and-drop mapquest.mrules file onto the map window of Maperitive. You should now have a no POI map. Under tools, export it.

I did this and it worked for me.

I deliberately left a possible step of my previous example because of it not being needed for “djary”'s original purpose. I actually checked his original question in stackoverflow. He wanted to remove all POIs. The mapquest.mrules does that automatically. Therefore, I omitted the step of editing the C) step file.

Let us assume for the purpose of creating a situation that requires map editing that “djary” is having a party at a particular restaurant and want to remove all the other POIs except that particular restaurant or that a new building or street has been proposed and a map of the proposal is needed.

Then another step is needed: editing the map. I would use JOSM to edit the map. When JOSM starts, it offers a second window to down load the map (which I hadn’t used because I didn’t know where the region I wanted was). Therefore, I click away that second window by clicking the X in the upper right corner of that window. In the remaining JOSM window, Click File ==> Open to open the C) file. Do your edits. Save to your file (new or old). Exit JOSM. When JOSM offers to upload your changes: Click “Exit now!” (this is very important: you do NOT want to put your changes into the OSM data base!).

I assume you can accomplish that by editing the style Maperitive is using, without the need to install JOSM (and perhaps Java) to displaya single POI.

Of course, you are correct. I use Java as a programming language regularly and have it installed on several of my home computers. Therefore, Java was not an issue. Installing JOSM was a matter of a few minutes work. Perhaps, it was a case of using a “pile-driver to crack walnuts.” With a half century of systems level programming experience, I am an expert “pile-driver operator.”

Of course, there are many methods for accomplishing “djary”'s original problem. He wanted a map without POIs at all. I proposed a method, not using JOSM, doing that before bringing JOSM into the discussion. I do not believe that copying and editing a map style would address showing a proposed building or highway.
