HOT Tasking Manager: Monthly update blog - April, 2023

May the Map Force be with You!

Whether you were born in the 1960’s-1970’s, or in the 2000’s, you’ve most likely heard of Star Wars. May is a special month for Star Wars fans globally, as May the 4th is observed as Star Wars Day, due to the way the date sounds similar to “May the Force.” Whether you are a Star Wars fan or not, there is no denying the fact that these movies are popular.

Moving on from the fictional world to our happy mapping lives, we have some exciting updates from April to share with you. Don’t forget to check out our previous blog post too!

:loudspeaker: So, what happened in April?

We’re always striving to make your time on the tool as seamless as possible. Hence, we started the month with a major focus on issues reported by our users both in GitHub and Slack. Below are a few highlights:

  1. Introducing Bulk Actions for Notifications: Now, you can mark multiple notifications as read and delete them all at once! No more tedious clicking of the eye icon button for each individual notification. With our latest update, simply select the notifications you want to manage, and with a single click, you can mark them as read or delete them in a batch. It’s a real time-saver!

  2. No more confusing red dot: When there are new, unread notifications, a red dot appears on the notification bell. However, clicking on the bell did not display any new notifications. But the good news is that the problem has been resolved now.

  1. Workable link button: One of our users reported on Slack that clicking the “link” button in the tasks list as shown in the screenshot below, no longer generated a functional link. Typically, this link is used to include in an email to the mapper. So, this problem has also been resolved now.

  1. Giving consistent contributor counts: There was inconsistency while showing the contributor’s count for a certain project. The number of contributors displayed was different between the project card and the project detail page. Therefore, this issue has been addressed through a pull request (PR).

  2. Improvised Validate a task button: Occasionally, even when there are no tasks in a project requiring validation, the button to validate a task is displayed. Similarly, the button should be disabled if all the tasks in a project have already been validated. If any tasks are still open for mapping, the button should be changed to “map a task.” Although this problem occurred occasionally, it is important to ensure that it no longer exists. Therefore, this issue has been addressed.

Other updates

  • [BUG] Private team visibility update #5723
  • [BUG] The text of the notification is going over the window. #5658
  • [BUG] Issue while fetching all teams for non-admin users#5710

We believe these improvements will enhance your user experience and help you use the tool more efficiently. Also, we value your feedback, so keep it coming, and stay tuned for more exciting features in the future!
