Again another year has gone
again uncounted changesets done
again so many left to do
for all of us, for me and you.
So many places unmapped still
so many gaps around to fill
so many days already spent
and more to come, without an end.
That’s fine! It keeps us going strong
and never resting all year long -
it’s part of our DNA
and keeps us active day by day!
This year which now has passed away
was somehow special, so to say;
a real milestone, so to see:
the 20th anniversary!
Yes, 20 mapping years have gone
and many million changesets done
by our great community
a part of which I’m proud to be!
A great idea in zero four
a blank white page and not much more
which year by year and step by step
evolved into the worlds best map!
Maybe that others lead by name
and dominate the mapping game
thruth is: we are the very best
gone far ahead of all the rest.
Still pushing further ev’ry day -
no place we spotted with our eye,
no road, no track no path we stepped
can get away from being mapped!
So what to say on such a day?
We’re surely making our way -
no doubt about as long as we
are part of this community!
Come on, you mappers far and near!
Here comes another mapping year
now to be filled with mapping life -
