Help Needed: Unable to Verify Profile on HDYC

Hello :wave:t5:,

Around three days ago I updated my profile on OSM to public and verify my profile on HDYC according to this wiki page. It has now become public, but I am still not verified. Can somebody point out my error?

Hi Akbar-Birbal,

The mentioned wiki page is not entirely correct. At least 3 related accounts are required in order for a profile to be marked as “verified” @ How did you contribute to OSM. An overview of possible accounts can be found here.

In your profile, you still had a “/summary” as stated on the wiki page. This was normally not required.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Pascal

I have updated the OSM WIki page: How did you contribute? - OpenStreetMap Wiki

Just mentioning that HOTOSM seems to have changed their user page format to the plural form “users” instead of “user” (e.g. https://tasks.hotosm.org/users/pitscheplatsch instead of https://tasks.hotosm.org/user/pitscheplatsch).

Maybe it makes sense to change that criteria to 2 accounts? Since the former OSM-forum and Help-OSM merged to the OSM-community? So a normal OSM’er would only be able to link to OSM wiki and OSM-community.

It’s somehow odd that you require the user to create a github or HOT account in order to be verified on HDYC.

That’s what I would prefer - link to HDYC for Public, then add links to OSM Wiki and OSM Forum (and HDYC) for Verified.

Had seen that verified on some profiles but never dug into the ‘how’, plugged all and every direct and sideways links into my OSM profile and now the HDYC page shows twice verified…

public and verified are different things. check the wiki of hdyc.

I actually wouldn’t worry about it. HDYC is just another external third-party website (albeit a useful one) - any information on there is basically irrelevant to your contributions to OSM. It doesn’t (and can’t) assess the quality of any contributions, which is by far the most important thing.

@pitscheplatsch can you fix this small issue? i know it doesn’t matter actually but i still want to see it (if only for the cosmetics.)

@KhubsuratInsaan Thanks for the hint. I’ve been using the specified URL with /users/ for quite some time already. Unfortunately, the API token from the HOT Tasking Manager expires after a while. I’ve now fixed the issue, so updates should work again.
