Hi,

ich habe da eine spezielle Frage zu einer kretischen Höhle und denke, dass die wohl nur von einem Einheimischen beantwortet werden kann. Kann jemand mir diesbezüglich einen Tip geben?

Nenn doch bitte mal Ross und Reiter zu dem Namen dieser Höhle.

Also Name und etwas genauer den Ort.

Das ist ja das Problem! Den kann ich nicht mit Bestimmtheit nennen!

Ich bin als Teil einer kleinen Wandergruppe hier zu einer Höhle gewandert, deren Name “Metochi Pelekita” sein soll.

In Carto ist dort tatsächlich eine Höhle zu finden, die aber als Mougri-Höhle bezeichnet wird.

Es kann natürlich sein, dass es dort zwei Höhlen gibt; andererseits räumt der Mapper der Mougri-Höhle von sich aus eine Positionsunsicherheit von +/- 200 m ein, so dass es sich dabei tatsächlich auch um “unsere” Höhle handeln könnte. Wenn ich von meinem gpx-Track ausgehe, beträgt der Abstand gut 130 m.

Insofern denke ich halt, dass meine Frage bei einem Einheimischen am besten aufgehoben ist …

Hi, I stumbled upon this thread and I would to ask if you can give a link of the approximate area of that cave so to get a better idea of where it is.

I’m not familiar with Crete, but a quick search of the two cave names you mentioned, I found about a Mougkri cave in Rethymno regional unit and a Pelekita cave in Lasithi regional unit.

Ok, I see it’s the Mougkri cave indeed, near the Vosakou monastery. I tried searching for the “Metochi Pelekita”, I found about “Metochi Pelekida” in that area, which isn’t clear what exactly it refers to. I see references only about hiking trail. No mention about another cave in that area besides the Mougkri one.

“Metochi” as word, usually refers to churches and isolated small churches/chapels which belong to a monastery. It isn’t clear from the imagery if there’s anything there that would resemble that.
