Getting contour lines/shading in OSM maps

Hello fellas.

I’m the whole night looking for contour overlays or something to put contour lines over the OSM map, and after several tries, I gonna just give up and find some help here. :frowning:

So the question is that simple, where can I find overlay transparent maps with contour lines for the OSM map for garmin devices (http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/) and how do I use it as a overlay of my current map if that is even possible…

I saw some people scripting it out to put contour lines in the same .img (phyghtmap) mixing maps but the links were dead like almost every post I saw about this… people tend to just download the map with the contour lines preinstalled. :rage:

*IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO PUT CONTOUR LINES BUT TO SHADE THE ALTITUDE YOUR ANSWER WILL BE USEFULL TOO!

I also tried to use:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Srtm2Osm
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/SRTM
http://www.openfietsmap.nl/downloads/osm_combi

I saw this post which is asking almost the same as me but it have no answer (I hope this doesn’t get unresolved too):

You are more likely to get more useful answers on the Garmin sub-forum. The main focus of the Questions and Answers forum is OSM itself, not specialist uses, and not non-OSM maps that can be integrated with those specialist uses.

Other places to potentially ask if you don’t get an answer would be OSM’s help site https://help.openstreetmap.org/ and the mkgmap mailing list http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/mkgmap-dev .

(you might want to cross-reference the questions for the benefit of anyone coming across any of the questions in the future)

Thanks for clarifying!

I created a post where you headed me, let you the link in here for people interested in this!

Here you can download contours as layer for your Garmin: https://extract.bbbike.org/
Relief shading is recently made possible by mkgmap. If you are looking for bicycle maps in Europe you can download them from my site, all my maps have contours plus hill shading (excluding the lite versions). If you want, you can build maps yourself with mkgmap.
