Duplicate airport name and icon

Both are tagged with “aeroway=aerodrome” and previously resulted in two airport icons and two airport names.

I have removed the name tag from the node, but the airplane icon of the node (of course) did not vanish.

Also, with minor differences, the node’s tags appear to be just a subset of the way’s tags.

Is it okay, if I delete the node entirely, or could it have some hidden meaning, which requires its existence?

Redundancy should be avoided. A way (area) has a higher information value than a node.

You can copy important informations from the node onto the way and then delete the node.
